Flavour
Only real lavender buds are used for this tea. The bracing climate and soil of the Loire Valley region allow for particularly strong essential oils to develop. Natural cultivation as well as gentle harvesting and drying methods foster the retention of these oils and aroma in the final product.
It is recommended that the tea is not prepared with boiling water, but rather 80°C water. When allowed to steep for 3 minutes at this temperature, the tea does not develop any bitterness, and the essential oils come to the fore in harmonic balance. The overall taste is lightly sweet and impressively fresh, and blossoms with a distinctively pleasant lavender aroma.
For a particularly strong tea, however, 100°C water can be used, and the tea allowed to steep for 3-5 minutes. According to this method, an intense lavender flavour will unfold that is slightly spicy and tart, with a strong, perfume-like aroma.
