Herbal Teas

Herbal teas have been used as natural remedies in traditional herbal medicine for centuries. As a water-based brew, a number of water-soluble nutrients seep into the tea and can be easily absorbed by the body once consumed. Each herb has a different effect profile that may unite hundreds of compounds. For our herbal teas we only select the best qualities from top terroirs that implement organic standards or use wild-grown herbs. Our producers are often small-holder farmers operating family-owned businesses with years of experience and passion for natural herbs and plants.

Laboratory Tests

We go to great lengths to identify the finest organic tea farms across the world’s most celebrated terroirs. All our teas are sourced directly from the farmer and, with a few exceptions, are certified organic or come from pesticide-free farms. Each batch of tea for every harvest is tested for pesticides and other pollutants in an independent German lab to ensure they meet our strict quality standards as well as HACCP food safety requirements.

Cultivation & Processing

We source the herbs for this blend directly from small, regional mountain herb farms in the idyllic alpine foothills of Austria.

Situated at an elevation of 500–900m, the herb farm is far removed from major industrial areas and highways. The oats flourish in small fields that are cultivated according to organic standards and completely without the use of chemicals.

Due to the climatic conditions, irrigation is not necessary. Within 1–2 hours after harvest, the oats are gently dried in a cabinet dryer at 40°C for 12–24 hours. Thereafter they are roughly cut and packaged. The dried oats are not sprayed, light-treated, or processed further.

The region, which is located in the transitional area between the climate influenced by the Atlantic Ocean and and the inland continental climate, is advantageous for growing oats. The mild summers with cool nights as well as raw winter of the highlands provide ideal temperature while regular rainfall and high humidity further benefit the growth of oats. Other factors include the granite rock bed beneath the soil and the exceptionally high standards of the farm itself. The resulting oats have a noticeably fine flavour and are highly nutritious with many essential oils and secondary phytochemicals.

Test results

We find it very important that our teas are pure and produced in a way that respects the environment. For this reason, each one of our teas is tested for pesticide residues by an independent laboratory, the results of which can be found here. Some of our teas are also tested for specific nutritional compounds, in which case the test results are also published here.
