The basis for this premium mountain tea blend is the well-known mountain tea Sideritis Scardica. It is endemic to the mountains of the Balkan Peninsula (Bulgaria, Greece, Albania). Depending on the terroir / mountain and altitude, the plant forms different ingredients and flavors. The most famous mountain tea in Bulgaria, Mursalski Trigradski tea, comes from the Rhodope Mountains above the mountain villages of Trigrad (population 640) and Muğla in the Mursalitsa region, in the very south of Bulgaria right on the border with Greece. The plant is on the Red List of endangered species in Bulgaria and may only be harvested according to certain guidelines.
Our original Mursalski Trigradski tea grows in its natural habitat at an altitude of about 1800m (cultivation starts from about 1500m) in the best location. The same applies to the other herbs of this highly noble mountain tea blend. For St. John's wort, mint and Scots pine, the native seeds of the wild herbs of the surrounding area are sown in the mountain meadows, they then grow on their own without further processing and are influenced only by the picturesque and beautiful nature. In the case of the Orgegano, it is even wild collection. It is gently taken by hand in the wild by members of the producer's family.
After harvesting in July/August, the plants are dried in the most gentle way in the air, hanging in the shade, and then packaged for us. It doesn't get any more natural or high quality than this.
