Tea Farm

The tea farm is located high in the mountains of Yunnan at over 3000m above sea level, making it one of the most elevated farms from which we source tea. The farm has been growing tea organically since 2015 and is certified organic in China and the EU.

Character

Flavour

Floral and fruity with a hint of tart acerola cherry, the caramel, slightly citrusy notes of Dianhong black tea harmonise perfectly with the playful scent of jasmine. A trace of smoke adds a sophisticated punchline in the finish. Compared to typical jasmine teas with a green or white tea base, the jasmine aroma in this black tea variation is more integrated and less pronounced, making it a very balanced, accessible tea with aromatic finesse.

Leaf

Short, chocolate needles with some light brown buds

Cup

Rich amber red

Jasmine Tea

One of the most popular flavoured teas, jasmine tea is a highly floral, slightly sweet Chinese tea scented with the aroma of jasmine flowers. Green tea is commonly used as the base but white, black and oolong teas may also be used. High quality jasmine teas are gently perfumed with real jasmine blossoms, added to the tea leaves during the final drying stages. Each flower is then carefully removed by hand and replaced with fresh ones, a time-consuming process that is repeated several times.

Laboratory Tests

We go to great lengths to identify the finest organic tea farms across the world’s most celebrated terroirs. All our teas are sourced directly from the farmer and, with a few exceptions, are certified organic or come from pesticide-free farms. Each batch of tea for every harvest is tested for pesticides and other pollutants in an independent German lab to ensure they meet our strict quality standards as well as HACCP food safety requirements.

About Yoshi En.

Cultivation & Processing

The farm is located in the tropical highlands of Yunnan at an altitude of over 3000m, exposing the tea plants to an optimal, stimulating climate that decelerates growth and allows the tea to develop a particularly rich aroma. Good soil drainage also contributes to robust and healthy plants. Typical of the Yunnan terroir is a very robust, vibrant aroma that harmoniously merges delicateness with a primal wildness.

Preparation

Brewing Guide

Steep 2 tsp in 200–300ml water at 85–90°C for 1–2 minutes. Suitable for several infusions.

Recommended Teapot

Brew in a Gaiwan or porcelain teapot to amplify the jasmine aroma, or in a glass teapot to gaze at the tea as it steeps.

Packaging & Storage

Packed in a high-quality, airtight, resealable standing zipper pouch with nine protective layers to preserve flavour and prevent oxidation. After opening, press out as much air as possible when snapping shut. Alternatively place tea leaves in a stylish tea caddy.

Test results

We find it very important that our teas are pure and produced in a way that respects the environment. For this reason, each one of our teas is tested for pesticide residues by an independent laboratory, the results of which can be found here. Some of our teas are also tested for specific nutritional compounds, in which case the test results are also published here.
