Tea Farm

The tea garden is located in a mountainous area in the north-east of Guangxi at an altitude of around 1000m with an average annual temperature of 19°C – ideal for growing delicate, high-quality teas. Far from urban life, large swathes of natural forest surround the farm, which refrains from using chemical pesticides and was nationally certified for its cultivation methods in 2000. Furthermore the tea farm has received several awards, especially for its silver needle teas.

White Tea

Elegant and delicate, white tea is the least processed type of tea, with the lowest degree of oxidation. It is traditionally withered outdoors in a careful, gradual process and tends to be subtly sweet with nuances of vanilla and a velvety texture. Markers of quality include a high proportion of buds and a lightly coloured cup.

Silver Needle or Baihao Yinzhen (白毫銀針 "white hair silver needle") is the most prized type of white tea as it is only made from young buds, which are still covered in fine, silvery-white hairs.

Laboratory Tests

We go to great lengths to identify the finest organic tea farms across the world’s most celebrated terroirs. All our teas are sourced directly from the farmer and, with a few exceptions, are certified organic or come from pesticide-free farms. Each batch of tea for every harvest is tested for pesticides and other pollutants in an independent German lab to ensure they meet our strict quality standards as well as HACCP food safety requirements.

Cultivation & Processing

This silver needle white tea is made exclusively from the freshest, most tender and fragrant buds handpicked during the first harvest in March. These are then withered alternately indoors and outdoors due to the unpredictable, rainy weather, in a process known as mixed withering or fushi weidiao (複式萎凋). On the first night after harvest, the buds are usually withered indoors for better protection, then transferred outside into the fresh air the following day on stacked bamboo troughs to avoid overexposure to sunlight and ensure even withering. This process extends over several days until the tea has reached the desired level of maturity. Finally, any remaining moisture is removed through gentle oven drying.

Single Origin

This tea is sourced directly from one tea farm in Guangxi.
