Benifuuki
The Benifuuki cultivar is an assamica and sinensis hybrid that makes an incredibly potent green tea with a uniquely high content of catechins – namely EGCG and ECG, as well as the rare methylated catechins EGCG3''Me / -4''Me. Beneath the distinctively bitter taste of Benifuuki is a floral sweetness and a suggestion of black tea. Sourced directly from various tea farms in southern Japan and tested in a German laboratory.
1st Harvest Benifuuki
In terms of flavour and total catechin content, first harvest (ichibancha) Benifuuki is the most powerful of them all, with more EGCG and ECG than any other green tea.
