Product Details

Custom-made in Japan for us, this tea caddy is a favourite of our editorial team. It combines minimalist Japanese elegance with high-quality craftsmanship and functionality. The tight-fitting lid allows for optimal aroma protection when storing fresh green teas and black or oolong teas alike.

Sekiban Grey 石板

The tea caddy was custom-lacquered for us in the shade slate grey (sekiban 石板). Slate plays a key role in Japanese landscape architecture, perhaps most notably in the design of Buddhist zen gardens. There, the slate slabs function as carefully laid paths on which the visitor is expected to move through the garden (roji 露地) in contemplation. Some slate paths in these gardens lead to tea houses  (chashitsu 茶室), which host traditional Japanese tea ceremonies.
